The Whole Home Demo Room is a space inside the Roku office dedicated to hosting high-level meetings, consumer press reviews, and product demos. The opening of the new NYC office created an opportunity to design an immersive Roku experience that both the Ad Sales and Consumer Products Communications teams could utilize.
This presented a unique challenge: How does the Roku brand come to life through interior design? I wanted to expand beyond the Roku logo and iconic purple and tap into other ownable brand elements, including the history of the company, Roku Originals, the Roku City screensaver, and its iconic easter eggs. My second objective was to make this room fully immersive, and not just styled “for show.” Guests in the room should immediately feel at home, and they can open any book, play with any game, or simply sit back and watch TV.
To make the room feel cozy and inviting, I incorporated touches of orange, gold, and dark wood tones, as well as layering in a variety of textiles. Next, I hand-picked every single book, board game, and easter egg knick-knack to make the room feel truly lived in. The final product is a thoughtfully-designed room that truly embodies what Roku is as a brand - friendly, accessible, and playful. The dream of moving into Roku City is now a reality.
